It is often said that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, however, this usually means that the other man has been less than fastidious in his choice of hero, or that the “freedom fighter” in question was on the crowd pleasing side.
On the 27th of June, London's Hyde Park played host to a concert in honour of Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday and as expected it received wall to wall coverage from a star struck and worshipping media, who continue to laud Mandela as one of the greatest, or indeed the greatest, heroes of our time.
The beaming old man appeared on stage in one of his trademark multi-coloured shirts and cheerily acknowledge the cheers of the adoring crowd, most of whom have been taught to believe in his sainthood since their first days in primary school, which, for many of them, will have occurred around the same time their hero walked free from Robben Island.
The unquestioning belief in Mandela's universally admired saintliness was again on display in the gushing media coverage and by the unending line of politicians and dignitaries from presidents to Prime ministers who queued up to genuflect before him and sing his praises. It is a brave politician or journalist who would dare to question the godliness of this legend and consummate showman, and hence no such questions were raised, nor were his much vaunted “achievements” subjected to any objective scrutiny.
No matter how many speeches are given or how many news articles are written, it will be a long time if ever before the truth about Mandela is told.
In fact the truth about Mandela is so hidden in mythology and misinformation that most know nothing about him prior to Robben island, and those who do tend to exercise a form of self censorship, designed to bolster the myth whilst consigning uncomfortable facts into the mists of history.
For most people all they know about Mandela, prior to his release in 1990, was that he had spent 27 years in prison and was considered by many on the left at the time (and almost everyone now) to be a political prisoner. However, Mandela was no Aung San Suu Kyi, he was not an innocent, democratically elected leader, imprisoned by an authoritarian government.
Mandela was the terrorist leader of a violent terrorist organisation, the ANC (African National Congress) which was responsible for many thousands of, mostly black, deaths. The ANC's blood spattered history is frequently ignored, but reminders occasionally pop up in the most embarrassing places, indeed as recently as this month the names of Nelson Mandela and most of the ANC remained on the US government's terrorist watch list along with al-Queda, Hezbollah and the Tamil Tigers. Of course the forces of political correctness are rushing to amend that embarrassing reminder from the past. However, Mandela's name was not on that list by mistake, he was there because of his Murderous past.
Before I am accused of calumny, it should be noted that Mandela does not seek to hide his past, in his autobiography “the long walk to Freedom” he casually admits “signing off” the 1983 Church Street bombing carried out by the ANC and killing 19 innocent people whilst injuring another 200.
It is true that Mandela approved that massacre and other ANC killings from his prison cell, and there is no evidence that he personally killed anyone but the same could be said about Stalin or Hitler, and the violent history of the ANC, the organisation he led is not in question.
According to the Human Rights Commission it is estimated that during the Apartheid period some 21,000 people were killed, however both the UN Crimes against Humanity commission and South Africa's own Truth and Reconciliation Commission are in agreement that in those 43 years the South African Security forces killed a total of 518 people. The rest, (some 92%) were accounted for by Africans killing Africans, many by means of the notorious and gruesome practice of necklacing whereby a car tyre full of petrol is placed around a victim's neck and set alight. This particularly cruel form of execution was frequently carried out at the behest of the ANC with the enthusiastic support of Mandela's demonic wife Winnie.
The brutal reappearance of the deadly necklace in recent weeks is something I shall reluctantly focus upon later.
Given that so much blood was on the hands of his party, and, as such, the newly appointed government, some may conclude that those who praised Madela's mercy and forgiveness, when the Truth and Reconciliation tribunal set up after he came to power, to look into the Apartheid years, did not include a provision for sanctions, were being deliberately naive.
Such nativity is not uncommon when it comes to the adoring reporting of Nelson Madela, and neither is the great leader himself rarely shy of playing up his image of fatherly elder statesman and multi-purpose paragon. However, in truth, the ANC's conscious decision to reject a policy of non-violence, such as that chosen by Gandhi, in their struggle against the white government, had left them, and by extension, their leader, with at least as much blood on their hands as their one time oppressors, and this fact alone prevented them from enacting the revenge which might otherwise have been the case.
As the first post Apartheid president of South Africa it would, be unfair if not ludicrous to judge Mandela entirely on the basis of events before he came to power, and in any event there is many a respected world leader or influential statesman with a blood stained past so let us now examine Nelson Mandela's achievements, and the events which have occurred in South Africa in the 14 short years since he took power in following the post Apartheid election in 1994, and the new South Africa which he created after coming to power on a surge of worldwide optimism and hope in 1994, when, following the end of Apartheid, he and his followers promised a new dawn for what became termed the Rainbow Nation.

Today South Africa stands out as one of the most dangerous and crime ridden nations on Earth which is not actively at War. In 2001, only seven years after the end of Apartheid, whilst the city of Amsterdam in the Netherlands with 5,6 murders per 100,000 population was declared the "murder capitol of Europe", Johannesburg, with 61.2 murders per 100,00 population and remains the world's top murder city.
In South Africa as a whole, the murder rate is seven times that of America, in terms of rape the rate is ten times as high and includes the ugly phenomenon of child rape, one of the few activities in which South Africa is now a world leader. If you don't believe me, you can read what Oprah Winfrey has to say about it here.
All other forms of violent crime are out of control, and Johannesburg is among the top world cities for muggings and violent assault, a fact seldom mentioned in connection with the 2010 World Cup which is scheduled to be hosted in South Africa.
As always with black violence the primary victims are their fellow blacks, however, the rape, murder and violent assault of whites is a daily event, and there is more ...
As with the Matabeleland massacres, news of which the BBC, together with much of the world media suppressed for twenty years to protect their one time hero, Zimbabwe's Robert Mugabe, another secret genocide is being ignored by the world media, the genocide of white Boer farmers, thousands of whom have been horribly tortured to death in their homes since the end of Apartheid. Anyone who clicks on this link should we warned that it includes some very gruesome images as the savagery of these attacks belie the authorities attempts to dismiss them as nothing more than a "crime wave".
Given that it is now all but illegal in South Africa to report the race of either victim or the perpetrator of a crime (unless the perpetrator is white and the victim black) and as modern South Africa's official crime statistics are notoriously massaged, it is impossible to know the exact numbers of farm murders that have taken place. Many reliable sources estimate the figure as close to 3,000, but even if we take the more conservative figure of 1,600 quoted in the politically correct South African press (but not quoted at all in ours) this is three times the numbers killed by the South African security forces over a period of 43 years, and which the UN calls a crime against humanity.
To put this in perspective, the population of South Africa is 47 million, (13 million less than Britain despite its far greater land mass) of which the 4.3 million whites account for 9.1%, about 1% less than the immigrant population of Britain. Can you imagine the outcry if 1,600 (let alone 3,000) members of a minority community in Britain were tortured to death by the native population?.
Yet when the victims are white, there is hardly a peep in the South African press and silence from the international media. Compare this to when a white youth is the killer, such as in the case of Johan Nel, who shot three Africans, a story which became instant world wide news with the predictable screams of racism and machete wielding mobs baying for his blood.
(And they accuse us of hate?!! Don't such people nauseate themselves with their hypocrisy?!)
Crime aside, Mandela and his ANC inherited the strongest economy in Africa, indeed, despite economic sanctions, South Africa was still one of the richest world nations, and indeed initially there was a brief post Apartheid boom, resulting from the lifting of sanctions and due to the fact that until affirmative action forced most of the whites out of their jobs to be replaced by under qualified blacks, those who had built South Africa were still in place.
However, any optimism was to be short lived. Now, after just 14 years of rule by Mandela and his grim successor Mbeke, corruption is rife, the country is beset with power cuts and the infrastructure is crumbling.
The nation's great cities like Durban and Johannesburg, which could once rival the likes of Sydney, Vancouver and San Francisco, had descended in to decaying crime ridden slums within a decade.
And in recent months we have seen the so called Rainbow nations ultimate humiliation, as xenophobic anti immigration violence spreads across the country. (“xenophobic” is what the media call racism when blacks do it) As poverty and unemployment explodes and is exacerbated by the floods of immigrants flooding in to escape the even more advanced Africanisation of the rest of the country, the mobs turn on those they blame for stealing their jobs, their homes, and their women.
Thus the cycle turns, and, like watching some barbaric version of “back to the future", on the news we see exactly the same scenes we saw on our televisions twenty years ago, wrecked buildings, burning vehicles, mobs brandishing machetes, axes and knives hacking at everything and everyone which comes within their reach. Most horrific of all, we see the return of that most savage symbol of African brutality, the necklace where, to the cheers of a blood thirsty crowd, some poor trembling soul, with a tire around his neck, is dragged from his home and set alight, exactly as all those other poor souls were set alight throughout the Apartheid years, when we were told it was all the evil white man's fault.
As nothing else the return of the necklace exposes the failure of Mandela's revolution, and those who fought for him should weep.
Under Apartheid, blacks and whites went to separate hospitals but they received world class health care, whatever their colour, now the facilities are collapsing or non-existent. Black children went to different schools than white children, but they received an education, something which is now a privileged luxury. When they grew up, their bosses may have been white, but they had jobs and a living wage, as the recent violence shows us, such security is but a memory for most South Africans.
Eighteen years after Nelson and Winnie made their historic walk towards the cameras, and 14 years, since Mandela assumed power on a tide of optimism, a once proud South Africa slides like a crumbling, crime ridden, wreck towards a precipice created though greed, corruption and incompetence.
For all his gleaming smiles, grandfatherly hand gestures, and folksy sound bites, tomorrow night, when crowd cheers the retired terrorist in the gaudy shirt, they would do best not to focus too closely upon his much admired legacy, as they might just find that the Xhosan Emperor has no clothes. For Nelson Mandela's lasting achievement is that, in the face of a world wishing him well, he, and the party he leads, have shown the world that, for all its flaws, Apartheid was a more benign system than what replaced it, and that the average South African was immeasurably better off under the hated white rule than they are under the alternative which black rule has created.
That is quite an achievement, even for a living legend.

Stop terrorist Nelson Mandela!
ReplyDeleteFlaming liberals and other dangerously misguided souls, the kind that led to the destruction of once peaceful and prosperous South Africa, are now out to sanitize the "saintly" terrorist Nelson Mandela (wolf in sheep's clothing, who knows how to talk to white people) and his toxic organization - the terrorist African National Congress (ANC) - and have them removed from the United States' terrorist list where they belong (HR 5690). Don't let them succeed!
I am a South African. South Africa has been pushed over the precipe of of choas. It is only a matter of time before South Africa will join its northern neighbour, Zimbabwe, as laughing stock of the world.
ReplyDeleteAnd "apartheid" is the cause of all evil!
Last week our national police force, the SAPS, was in a gun battle with the Metropolitan Police Force of Johannesburg. The Metro police was on an unlawful strike for better wages, and blocked some highways around Johannesburg.
Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:
ReplyDelete29 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad cheques
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
373 in total or approximately 70%
Can you guess which organization this is?
Give up yet?
its the 535 members of the SOUTH AFRICAN PARLIAMENT -

ReplyDeleteWHY I'M FLEEING SOUTH AFRICA
by Anne Paton (widow of Alan Paton)
(London Sunday Times)
I am leaving South Africa. I have lived here for 35 years, and I shall leave with anguish. My home and my friends are here, but I am terrified.
I know I shall be in trouble for saying so, because I am the widow of Alan Paton. Fifty years ago he wrote Cry, The Beloved Country. He was an unknown schoolmaster and it was his first book, but it became a bestseller overnight. It was eventually translated into more than 20 languages and became a set book in schools all over the world. It has sold more than 15
million copies and still sells 100,000 copies a year.
As a result of the startling success of this book, my husband became famous for his impassioned speeches and writings, which brought to the notice of the world the suffering of the black man under apartheid.
He campaigned for Nelson Mandela's release from prison and he worked all his life for black majority rule. He was incredibly hopeful about the new South Africa that would follow the end of apartheid, but he died in 1988, aged 85. I was so sorry he did not witness the euphoria and love at the time of the election in 1994. But I am glad he is not alive now. He would have been so distressed to see what has happened to his beloved country.
I love this country with a passion, but I cannot live here any more. I can no longer live slung about with panic buttons and gear locks. I am tired of driving with my car windows closed and the doors locked, tired of being afraid of stopping at red lights. I am tired of being constantly on the alert, having that sudden frisson of fear at the sight of a shadow by the gate, of a group of youths approaching - although nine times out of 10 they are innocent of harmful intent. Such is the suspicion that dogs us all.
Among my friends and the friends of my friends, I know of nine people who have been murdered in the past four years. An old friend, an elderly lady, was raped and murdered by someone who broke into her home for no reason at all; another was shot at a garage.
We have a saying, "Don't fire the gardener", because of the belief that it is so often an inside job - the gardener who comes back and does you in.
All this may sound like paranoia, but it is not without reason. I have been hijacked, mugged and terrorised. A few years ago my car was taken from me at gunpoint. I was forced into the passenger seat. I sat there frozen. But just as one man jumped into the back and the other fumbled with the starter I opened the door and ran away. To this day I do not know how I did this. But I got away, still clutching my handbag.
On May 1 this year I was mugged in my home at three in the afternoon. I used to live in a community of big houses with big grounds in the countryside. It's still beautiful and green, but the big houses have been knocked down and people have moved into fenced complexes like the one in which I now live. Mine is in the suburbs of Durban, but they're springing up everywhere.
That afternoon I came home and omitted to close the security door. I went upstairs to lie down. After a while I thought I'd heard a noise, perhaps a bird or something. Without a qualm I got up and went to the landing; outside was a man. I screamed and two other men appeared. I was seized by the throat and almost throttled; I could feel myself losing consciousness. My mouth was bound with Sellotape and I was threatened with my own knife (Girl Guide issue from long ago) and told: "If you make a sound, you die." My hands were tied tightly behind my back and I was thrown into the guest room and the door was shut. They took all the electronic equipment they could find, except the computer. They also, of course, took the car.
A few weeks later my new car was locked up in my fenced carport when I was woken by its alarm in the early hours of the morning. The thieves had removed the radio, having cut through the padlocks in order to bypass the electric control on the gates.
The last straw came a few weeks ago, shortly before my 71st birthday. I returned home in the middle of the afternoon and walked into my sitting room. Outside the window two men were breaking in. I retreated to the hall and pressed the panic alarm. This time I had shut the front door on entering. By now I had become more cautious. Yet one of the men ran around the house, jumped over the fence and tried to batter down the front door. Meanwhile, his accomplice was breaking my sitting- room window with a
hammer. This took place while the sirens were shrieking, which was the frightening part. They kept coming, in broad daylight, while the alarm was going. They knew that there had to be a time lag of a few minutes before help arrived - enough time to dash off with the television and video recorder. In fact, the front-door assailant was caught and taken off to the cells.
Recently I telephoned to ask the magistrate when I would be called as a witness. She told me she had let him off for lack of evidence. She said that banging on my door was not an offence, and how could I prove that his intent was hostile?
I have been careless in the past - razor wire and electric gates give one a feeling of security. Or at least, they did. But I am careless no longer.
No fence - be it electric or not - no wall, no razor wire is really a deterrent to the determined intruder. Now my alarm is on all the time and my panic button hung round my neck. While some people say I have been unlucky, others say: "You are lucky not to have been raped or murdered." What kind of a society is this where one is considered "lucky" not to have been raped or murdered - yet?
A character in Cry, The Beloved Country says: "I have one great fear in my heart, that one day when they are turned to loving they will find we are turned to hating." And so it has come to pass. There is now more racial tension in this country than I have ever known.
But it is not just about black-on-white crime. It is about general lawlessness. Black people suffer more than the whites. They do not have access to private security firms, and there are no police stations near them in the townships and rural areas. They are the victims of most of the hijackings, rapes and murders. They cannot run away like the whites, who are streaming out of this country in their thousands.
President Mandela has referred to us who leave as "cowards" and says the country can do without us. So be it. But it takes a great deal of courage to uproot and start again. We are leaving because crime is rampaging through the land. The evils that beset this country now are blamed on the legacy of apartheid. One of the worst legacies of that time is that of the Bantu Education Act, which deliberately gave black people an inferior education.
The situation is exacerbated by the fact that criminals know that their chances of being caught are negligible; and if they are caught they will be free almost at once. So what is the answer? The government needs to get its priorities right. We need a powerful, well-trained and well-equipped police force.
Recently there was a robbery at a shopping centre in the afternoon. A call to the police station elicited the reply: "We have no transport." "Just walk then," said the caller; the police station is about a two-minute sprint from the shop in question. "We have no transport," came the reply again. Nobody arrived.
There is a quote from my husband's book: "Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that is the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply. Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be too moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."
What has changed in half a century? A lot of people who were convinced that everything would be all right are disillusioned, though they don't want to admit it.
The government has many excellent schemes for improving the lot of the black man, who has been disadvantaged for so long. A great deal of money is spent in this direction. However, nothing can succeed while people live in such fear. Last week, about 10km from my home, an old couple were taken out and murdered in the garden. The wife had only one leg and was in a
wheelchair. Yet they were stabbed and strangled - for very little money. They were the second old couple to be killed last week. It goes on and on, all the time; we have become a killing society.
As I prepare to return to England, a young man asked me the other day, in all innocence, if things were more peaceful there. "You see," he said, "I know of no other way of life than this. I cannot imagine anything different." What a tragic statement on the beloved country today.
"Because the white man has power, we too want power," says Msimangu. "But when a black man gets power, when he gets money, he is a great man if he is not corrupted. I have seen it often. He seeks power and money to put right what is wrong, and when he gets them, why, he enjoys the power and the money. Now he can gratify his lusts, now he can arrange ways to get white
man's liquor. I see only one hope for our country, and that is when white men and black men, desiring neither power nor money, but desiring only the good of their country, come together to work for it.
I have one great fear in my heart, that one day when they are turned to loving, they will find we are turned to hating.

This article is incisively on the money. To read of the ANC's removal from the U.S. Terror Watch List, after having personally removed human limbs from the Magoo's Bar bombing in Durban, South Africa, leaves me sick. Attrocities of Apartheid? Shock, horror! What of the ANC's bombing campaigns, their apathy in quelling the recent xenophobia in Johannesburg? the rest of the world will forever use Apartheid to hide behind their non-legislated racist policies.

You must go and look at all this.

Hi Sarah
ReplyDeleteI am 32 yr old white South African Female, living in Johannesburg.
Thank You for you article. It saddens me to say that unfortunately, you are 100% correct and that nothing you're saying is fabricated or based on hearsay. "Yes world, the picture she paints is the correct one - and even worse as statistics, especially crime statistics in South Africa are never 100% accurate, but almost always submitted and published below reality".
Being a victim of many various crimes, including armed robbery, and attempted rape and murder, I have my days where I don't understand myself for staying here.
My answer? I know the solution to this massive, overwhelming, bigger than life problem is ... in prayer. To every South African reading this - by now you would have definitely heard Angus Buchan and seen the results of his outcry.
We will ONLY overcome this monster through praying for our beloved beautiful country. God still has a dream and plan for us. Yes US, US all together, the nation of South Africa.
To my fellow commenters on Sarah's article - I believe you will grant me the same common courtesy for my believes, as what we have given you in hearing your hate speech.
Your article on Mandela, you knock a living legend, based on halve truths. You clearly neither understands nor have you ever experienced apartheid; you don’t know anything about South Africa’s history and have clearly never met the man Mandela.
ReplyDeleteI am a white South African man, I am not a liberal person, I believe that you should know the facts before you judge. I could for example…
…understand why Hitler did what he did. I don’t condone Hitler, but I understand. I would never support Hitler but I understand what started his mad behavior. I think if “Sarah, Maid of Albion” lived in Hitler’s days you would have supported him as her hero!!!!
I believe there is nothing more dangerous than writing an article which:
1. “You think you know“ the topics, equate to about 10%.
2. The part of “you know, what you don’t know” equate to about 10%, which you twist for your own gains.
3. And final “what you don’t know, that you don’t know” equate to 80%.
… I think you’re an absolute fool, and more ignorant than a peasant from the 16th Century!!!!
South Africa went thru a war, even tho it was a silent war, it was still a war and the victors of war often find it difficult to change their ways.
ReplyDeleteIf you read way back to the time of Herod; the Romans helped him to beseige Jerusalem and throw out the Syrians who had taken the city captive and were trying to put their nominated king on the throne. The Romans were victorious (obviously) but there is a lovely tale in Josephus of how Herod went to the leader of the Roman army and asked him to keep his victorious troops under control because they were ransacking the city and murdering and raping and pillaging.
The captain told him that his troops were just behaving like soldiers and that such were the spoils of war.
That is exactly what is going on here. The freedom fighters are obtaining their spoils of war.
The previously disenfranchised populations, from the leaders down to the people on the ground, want their spoils and until they are
rewarded the carnage will continue.
Herod solved it by paying off the troops and leaders and sending them away.
Augustus gave his soldiers farms where they couldn't do too much harm.
Perhaps our government would do well to make a one off "reward" payment to all previously disenfranchised people
and then tell them that any further illegal behaviour would be unacceptable and enforce our laws rigidly.
I don't think that the old "freedom fighters" have been "rewarded" yet for bringing democracy to SA. I believe that they are paid a pension but that keeps them in the mindset of being soldiers, not decent, free spirits, living under the
boon of democracy.
They should be given a bit of land and taught to farm and live as productive members of a glorious democratic society.
This is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever read! - Well not really, I have read worse, but you come really close! Your article started off well, with some truth to it, but it soon became very clear that you not only do not know much about what you are talking about (especially judging from all your spelling mistakes...by the way our president's name is Mr Mbeki! not Mbeke!) but also extremely racist! To a point where you even have the audacity to end off your rant with: "Apartheid was a more benign system than what replaced it, and that the average South African was immeasurably better off under the hated white rule than they are under the alternative which black rule has created."
ReplyDeleteWho the hell are you? You have misinterpreted all the information you have received about South Africa and exaggerated on so many facts that complete credibility is lost in what you say, well to any sensible reader who actually knows something about this country.
And to all those former South Africans who have left and keep leaving our beautiful, I say good reddens!
Given the somewhat education free contributions I have been receiving over the last twenty four hours, I suspect that a link to this site has been posted to some die hard ANC worshiping site or blog. If so, welcome strangers you might learn something, albeit with your closed minds, I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteOf course you are correct anonymous 05:31, Tabo's name is spelt with an 'i' not an 'e' (except after 'c' presumably), you caught me out on a typo, clever boy / girl!
ReplyDeleteA word of advice though, when seeking to demonstrate that someone does not know what they are talking about on the basis of a spelling mistake, it is wise not to end your sparkling missive with a statement such as "good reddens" (sic)
I just want to say that it deeply saddens me because of what South Africa has become. I am a 20 year old girl living in England. I have been to a few countries but I still jump when someone runs close to me, I still feel scared for my life when I walk at night..no matter how long I have been away. Everytime I call my family my heart sinks when they don't pick up the phone..cos u see my father is a farmer. I am scared for my families lives..I was told to make a life somewhere else. Now ask yourself this question. Is this anyway for anybody to live in their own country? We have all been brought up to love everybody like ourself if not more. And now we the people living in SA is too scared to question the ANC. Picture this the next leader of the ANC has got charges of rape and fraud against him (WHAT DOES THIS INDICATE ABOUT OUR FUTURE). I might be wrong but this is not how it is supposed to be. Electricity outages are in the order of the day(easily 6 hours a day). GREED is South Africa's biggest problem. People trying to get their own back through black impowerment just reverse apartheid if you ask me. When will it ever stop this is just going to be a ongoing cycle with no positive outcome. Mandela might have had good intentions but somewhere it all went horribly wrong. People are suffering more than ever and there just seems to be no light at the end of this deep dark tunnel. While Zimbabwe is going under The ANC says they are not getting involved!!!!?? The most insane thing I have heard we are just taking a back seat and watching. Money is being spent to change city names..this costs millions and yet there is people starving and living in horrible conditions..where is this so-called government's priorities. I still love South Africa with all of my heart but I can no longer live in FEAR. There is a lot of lies surrounding Mandela and I really hope that the truth will come out because currently South Africa is a nation living in denail. Ons vir jou Suid-Afrika,
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with all you have said, but there is one glaring omission. You did not investigate what he actually did whilst he was President. The answer is of course "nothing", and I am sure, had he not bailed out when he did, he would have displayed the usual flaws one associates with post-colonial African leaders. He was clever enough to know this, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI'm too an South African woman, born and bred here. But I applaud you for you courage to write a very politally debated issue. I see there are many agreeing parties, and then there are those of us, that feel what you are saying. It all comes down to propaganda.....Mandela has a brilliant PR Agent. All mighty and graceful. All alluded by the fact that the South African People are living in fear - every day.
I find that we do have a 50/50 split of opinions regarding the new South Africa amongst the people, and those genarally in favor of the new South Africa, are those who have never experience crime, or violence in the rainbow nation. Well, statistically - do not fear - your turn will come. Maybe "they" will break into your house. Or steal your car. Or rape your daughter, and dump her little body in a storm pipe. Or highjacked your wife, while shooting her in the back and paralizing her for life. No, so simple - when it's never been done to you. (Oh, please forgive me if I've made spelling mistakes - I wouldn't want to be judged on something so petty)
Sarah I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me hope again, I didn't realise that there are actually people outside of South Africa who know what is going on here and have the guts to talk openly about it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you wrote 100%, I know alot of black people who will agree with you too, although it is not those with fancy cars and good paying jobs(they will just agree that crime is out of hand)
The older generation who lived through the 60's and 70's will all tell you that they always had food, safety, and medical care, they worked for a small salary, sure but their employer gave them food, tabbaco and a place to live, they used their salary solely for thing they really wanted, many children were even educated free.
But somehow the younger generation thinks that all blacks were abused and murdered somehow.
I thank you again!
Your article started off as an objective look at a very popular statesman but then degraded into a very biased, ill-informed rambling.
ReplyDeleteJust a few things that you should do a bit more research on;
Calling all of Durban and Johannesburg, "decaying crime ridden slums" shows that you have obviously not traveled extensively in either of these cities. Yes there are portions of both of these cities that might classify as "decaying crime ridden slums" however there are also parts of the these cities that are equivalent to San Francisco. I cannot comment on Sydney, Vancouver as I have not been to either city. I think that you could discuss the disparity that exists in these cities but writing them both off takes a very narrow view especially of a complex metropolis like Johannesburg.
"Under Apartheid, blacks and whites went to separate hospitals but they received world class health care, whatever their colour," again you obviously have never been to a previously "black hospital". If you can state that Baragwanath hospital had the same level of facilities and funding as Johannesburg General or Tygerberg Hospital then again I think that you need to recheck your sources. That is not to mention that Baragwanath serviced all of Soweto whereas in the small city that I lived in, there was a hospital that serviced just a few neighborhoods.
Exactly the same thing can be said for schools. If you consider all the 4 schooling systems in Apartheid South Africa to be equivalent you are sorely mistaken. I am of Indian descent and even though our schools where adequate they where significantly inferior to the average White school. The black schools however got a lot less funding, even though the population of Blacks is an order of magnitude larger than the other 3 groups.
"Apartheid was a more benign system than what replaced it, and that the average South African was immeasurably better off under the hated white rule than they are under the alternative which black rule has created" My only assumption here is that your term "average South African" should really be "average white South African" as I think that the average South African currently has significantly more opportunities available to them with the lifting of Apartheid. Whether those opportunities are being effectively exploited however is a very different discussion.
One of the bravest and most insightful articles I've read in a long time. And considering you don't even live in the country makes it even more astonishing.
ReplyDeleteI'm a South African and I've seen four of my brothers leave the country in the last five years. I have days when I'm full of hope and others when I have serious doubts. Like today after having a lenghty conversation with the local newpaper editor in my city about the state of affairs locally and nationally.
Our country is going to the dogs and fast and it's across the board and from the top right down to the bottom at national level right down to local municipal level. And the leaders shrug their shoulders and continue on like there is nothing wrong.
Once again excellent article and keep at it Sarah!
Hi Lovan
ReplyDeleteI am sorry you did not enjoy my writing, but to clarify a couple of points:
My reference to the average South African was to the average black South African. If you truly believe that the majority of black south Africans are better off now than they were under Apartheid then you are self deluded to a degree which is probably incurable.
Likewise in relation to Johannesburg, whereas there may be pockets where vestiges of the old Jo-burg still exists, I doubt that many who saw it before '94 and see it again today would disagree with my assessment.
You can point to individual hospitals where you claim standards were low under Apartheid, however, and claim that the standards of health care which blacks received under Apartheid was not immeasurably better than that which the average black South African now has access to in the decaying, empty shells which pass for hospitals in much of modern South Africa is ..... disingenuous to say the least.
Baragwanath hospital was the hospital with the most advanced equipment in the Southern Hemisphere in the 1990's, today its a hell hole where very few people come out alive
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteJust a few words. SA is fukced. Last Sunday 10 August 2008 a friend of mine stopped at the garage to buy the newspaper. He walked in on a robbery in progress. He said to them that what they are doing is wrong and then they shot him down in cold blood. We are not SAFE anywhere.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteJust a few words. SA is fukced. Last Sunday 10 August 2008 a friend of mine stopped at the garage to buy the newspaper. He walked in on a robbery in progress. He said to them that what they are doing is wrong and then they shot him down in cold blood. We are not SAFE anywhere.
MK, the armed wing of the ANC, was possibly the least effective of all the terrorist 'armies' of recent times. This aside they did – like all such groups – attempt to damage and even destroy our Country's infrastructure and economy by carrying out attacks against installations and people. This they hoped would bring about the change they wanted.
ReplyDeleteI find it ironical that the ANC has done more damage to our infrastructure as the Government than it ever managed to do as a bunch of terrorists.
Some English history might help to put war in perspective...
ReplyDeleteOn 14 November 1940 a German raid destroyed or damaged about 60,000 buildings over hundreds of hectares in the centre of Coventry and is known to have killed 568 civilians. The raid had reached such a new level of destruction that the Germans later used the term Coventriert ("Coventrated") when describing similar levels of destruction to other enemy towns. During the raid, the Germans dropped about 500 tonnes of high explosives, including 50 parachute air-mines and 36,000 incendiary bombs of which 20 were incendiary petroleum mines.
The bombing of Coventry in 1940 was known to Prime Minister Churchill beforehand, who deliberately did not order the evacuation of civilians or the bolstering of anti-aircraft defences before the raid in fear of tipping off the Germans that they were able to decode their most secret communications. The reason why "Ultra" (which was the British code name for the decoding effort) was kept secret for so long seems to be motivated by protecting the governments of the time and avoid the embarrassment of having to explain why they allowed the Germans to bomb cities without taking measures to protect civilians.
Can we judge Churchill in the same manner?
Many do judge Churchill for such actions, There are very many historical accounts and essays which are very critical of Churchill.
ReplyDeleteSearch the internet, you will find many sites which attack Churchill, indeed there are some who would call him a war criminal, albeit I do not share that view.
However, there are far fewer examples of Nelson Mandela being placed under an objective spotlight.
By exposing Churchill's actions does not exonerate Mandela or excuse his actions. In my articles a sought to show the living saint of popular myth is not quite all he is made out to be, and your apparent argument that "Other people did bad things too" does not change the facts.
Mandela is a retired terrorist and (at the very least) accomplice to mass murder, who is merchandised as the most saintly figure of our age, I am simply seeking to present some balance on the subject.
Thank you Sarah. At least someone has the courage to speak the truth. I will share your post and the comments with as many as I can.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brave lady . I am an Englishman living in South Africa since 1983 . I am now embarrased by the fact that I argued for these people and that I turned down Australia , Canada and the USA . Thank you Mandela . Thank you for not standing up to your bloodthirsty terrorist buddy Mugabe , perhaps the final insult to the white people of this world that you hate so much .
ReplyDeleteWhat a brave lady . I am English and emigrated to SA in 1983 . I cant believe I refused Canada and Australia and the USA for what has become the biggest joke of all time . Thank you Mandela you have refused to condemn Mugabe , perhaps your final insult to the white people you hate.
ReplyDeleteWith reference to some of the comments I have read on this site I can offer my views as follows:-
ReplyDeleteMandela!!
Even if all the people in the world knows the truth about Mandela you will have 2 problems. One being that half of the people would not really believe it because how can a peace prize winner be a terrorist. Secondly being that the other half who might believe it does not give a damn.
We live in world where the SELF is more important than anything else and whatever you personally can gain whether it is money, property, power, etc. are the only things that counts. I am not talking about the ANC alone as there are many individuals and organizations that falls into this category.
The world had been on the aparteit regime's case for many years and as a born and bred south african I can tell you all now that the whites had the best interests of the blacks at heart for the most part at least. I never was a political inclined person and sees politics in many cases as a hinderance to human goodwill and prosperity due to the negative influence a very small group can have on the general pupulace. Democracy has been raped and plundered by the ANC to become something totally different today.
As I understood the apartheid policy, it was meant to give all the different races and groups a place they could call their own and as such rule themselves. The method used were to allocate different land areas where the zulus for instance lived traditionally and thus was done for xhosas, vendas, swazis, etc. As far as I know these areas were chosen by the people themselves. Millions was pumped into these different areas on a monthly basis to be invested by their chosen or appointed leaders to grow their economies and as such was offered independance when ready.
Yes, the whites kept for themselves the rest of the land for which they fought against england and paid dearly for it with loss of life of men and of women and children in the british run concentration camps.
So the offer on the table was that everybody could have their own piece of land over which they rule themselves. I still think it was a good idea but thwarted by the blacks themselves because they wanted ALL, everything!!!
So the ANC and other black organizations made it their job to overthrow the white government. (Not that they succeeded.) FW De Klerk's government actually handed the keys to castle to the ANC. In effect the whites were promised a different outcome by FW De Klerk but in the end all was handed over without a shot being fired. Up to today I could not believe what had happened to the whites seeing that they had the political as well as military power to dictate what goes and what not. The whites got a very bad deal and did not need to do it. But before the democracy process the ANC became terrorists without having any value on a human life. A lot of innocent people were killed by the actions of these terrorists. But today they are the government and butter cold not melt in their mouths.
I don't want to be a judge and jury judging what has happened in south africa but I can tell you if you speak to the average black and white in the street, they will tell you that things are not better than in the old days. Why not?, you may ask? I will tell you!! Now everybody is in danger of being murdered, raped, attacked, burgeled, etc and our fantastic solid infrastructure which was handed to the ANC in 1994 are crumbling around us.
Most municipalities are bankrupt, service delivery is non-existing, theft, misuse of power, etc. is at the order of the day. Our roads are disappearing before our eyes. The average south african are suffering now under bad management of the economy. Billions are missing every year and those responsible are not brought up on charges?? Still we pay taxes that spiral upward and incomes spiral downward.
No matter what happened in the past, today in this moment we as south africans are in deep shit!! Forget about the crime for now. What about food supplies dwindling due to things buggered up by the ANC like murders on the farms, producing farms given to inexperienced black farmers who go bankrupt with a year or two.
My message to all south africans are to open your eyes to what is happening to you, your country, your people and vote correctly next year or face the consequences. Dammit people, vote for any other party except the ANC to at least bring some balance in the political arena. There is only one thing to do and that is to vote for a strong opposition because that will be the only way to save south africa from a second zimbabwe.
Good luck to the world who are going to place their lives on the line to come here for the world cup. You have been warned.
Dear Sarah
ReplyDeleteThis third world mess we south africans have to live in is bound to get much worse. Unfortunately Brittain and the USA has a direct hand in creating this mess. Now Brittain will have to pay the price too, as your country will suffer the same.Because you judged the "white minority " in South Africa " for inventing apartheid to trying to avert this mess, your country will have to stick to the same liberal measures you used to judge us with, and it will destroy your country too.
This was in fact predicted by Siener van Rensburg (1918-1927)who told the Afrikaans speaking whites of all these things that will happen in the future. So soon it will be your turn.
Good luck
I stumbled onto this blog and what a load of rubbish! Only a white person would write such a thing. South Africa is what it is today because of the foreign element that entered the continent 400 years ago with a mission to conquer. You are all running to Australia and New Zealand and yet the natives of these lands were wiped out to make way for criminals and evil doers. They say Australia is becoming South African – I disagree, its experiencing the same thing that happened all those years ago. Have any of you read about the scramble for Africa? If not, find it and learn!
ReplyDeletePlease get your facts right. There are causalities in a revolution and a well protected white person would not understand this. Black South Africans have lived most of their lives as slaves, beggars and as some call them - monkeys. Townships are hell holes and if you keep a man in such a place long enough he will become an animal and the result is what we are experiencing today. 80 % of black South Africans think white people are evil because all they know is that they had to call them Master and madam. A father of 8 had to leave his home and be treated like a boy at work. Think people! Your forefathers created chaos to give you a better life at the expense of others. That is un-Godly and yet it was done under the name of God. Such ignorance is sickening and if you hate where you were born then find another home and I bet most of you do not even know where you belong. Why do you care about a lowly black nation when you are of superior race? Do you care for South Africa or the fancy suburban neighbourhood you once occupied?
Its time to look at South Africa and Africa for what it is – a dehumanized continent that has seen the worst case of racism, genocide and imperialism in our time. You might argue and present other facts but stop for one minute, close your eyes and put yourselves in the shoes of a young boy or girl growing up in a 2-roomed home with 10 other people and all you know is that Mommy and Daddy wake up every morning to go across town to take care of other people’s kids, clean their toilets, dig their gardens and walk their dogs and still be treated like an animal with no brain. Now imagine yourself as an adult with Bantu education and all you know is to be less than human what would you do?
Think people! Mandela is not a terrorist. His stature is definitely over traded but he means the world to common people and not the celebrities or the millions of people who attended the concert in London. Mandela represents freedom to all those mothers and fathers who had to carry a pass book in their own country – oops! I forgot, they were not fit to take care of themselves and had to be civilised. What bollocks! This response is probably full of typos and you might think what an uneducated black but the truth is we were taught things that would make us good servant and not leaders.
Why do you think the present government is run by incompetent people? Think damn it! They are not equipped to function in a white society and lead white people who constantly complain! Corruption is unacceptable but what do you expect from people who lived all their lives on hand outs from liberals and sympathizers.
All I’m saying is that the past is present today and the only way to change South Africa is if people like you who run away to other colonized countries stop spreading such negativity and start understanding the native South African. If you ask me, Mandela should have stepped out of prison and asked the people to fight and chase all those who think they are mightier than God out of Africa. Maybe the anger that still burns in people’s hearts would be known to you.
It’s a simple fact – if you take away a man’s dignity he will behave like an animal and so will his kids. South Africa is a sick country and it will take all South Africans to understand one another. It’s a psychological problem that still lingers and I hope you are teaching you kid to understand the truth and not what you believe.
For you to write “For Nelson Mandela's lasting achievement is that, in the face of a world wishing him well, he, and the party he leads, have shown the world that, for all its flaws, Apartheid was a more benign system than what replaced it, and that the average South African was immeasurably better off under the hated white rule than they are under the alternative which black rule has create” is not only hurtful but a reflection of how you were brought up. Africans did not ask Europeans to enter the continent and disturb the peace. Mandela did not march into prison on his own accord and said” hey Mr. Jailer, please take me away from my demonic wife and kids, I will be grateful Master if you can keep me in here for 27 years” Think! Think! Think!

ReplyDeleteThere has to come a time when people start to take responsibility for their own actions, their own mistakes, and their own crimes, even black people.
Many American blacks are still blaming slavery for their behaviour 150 years on, are you planning to spend that long blaming Apartheid for the corruption in your government and he rampant crime in your society?.
Perhaps you can enlighten us, what is the timescale? do you anticipate remaining childlike victims who can not be held responsible for your own actions? decades? centuries? Milena even?
Do think that we might reach a point in our lifetime where when a black person does something wrong and admit it is his/her own fault?
Like most of those who commented on this article, I also don't believe Mandela is the saint he is made out to be. In fact, I believe he and his comrades within the ANC are responsible for wasting a huge opportunity, that was given to them on a silver platter. Despite many generations of apartheid, there was an amazing amount of goodwill amongst South Africans of all races after the 94 elections. The failure to capitalise on this is their crime, to build a beautiful country that had much going for it. Now it is all too late, with all that goodwill destroyed, and all we see is a counry determined to repeat the Zimbabwe experience.
ReplyDeleteI think you all missed the point, I am so sad that people like you exist. I am a white South African woman. I love my country. Was Nelson Mandela a bad man? maybe, probably, I dont deny that the ANC killed innocent people and I agree that they are mainly doing a shitty job now (but cut Trevor M some slack, hats off to the man)
ReplyDeleteLets talk about Afirmative Action. Oh no... white kids dont just get given jobs anymore? what a shame, strangely though, there are more white people employed than black people.... how many white people live in shacks? I come from Durban but have been living in the UK and I miss my local clinic from Durban, I miss the nurse that was actually friendly and who knew what she was doing. I miss friendly people compared to the rude snobby people I have the misfortune to meet.
I look at these comments, these sad sad sad middle age men who have no facts, only their personal opinion and aplaud you for being the last.
Every politician has blood on his/her hands. take a look at this:
http://londonbanker.blogspot.com/
Sarah, I am not sure what you do but I am sure you must be pretty pissed off about the end of white supremacy.
Take care of yourself tiger.
No not not the end of White Supremacy, I am pissed off at the end of honest and competent government in Africa.
ReplyDeleteAs to how many whites live in shacks, I believe that around 10% of South African whites are now said to be living in poverty.
Zuma visited some the other day as I recall.
now the ruling party wants the prosecuting authority to drop all charges against Zuma
ReplyDeletemaybe the brits can errect a statue to him too since it seems he is now suffering under the apartheid rules of thy shalt not steal.
The prosecuting authority is acting as agent of the former colonial powers, the anc claims.
Why do we not ask the pope to make them both saints they both were involved in making a developed country disappear in 10 years, that should be miraculous enough.
What a circus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDelete"black people that rape, rob ,murder etc in south africa are from all over the continent of africa, these foreign blacks did not suffer under apartheid. So why do they rape rob and murder just like the blacks in SA ?"
Because they know that in South Africa they can get away with it. Why don't they try doing it in Botswana? Because they know they'll get the noose, and a few of them have done so already. You can make as many excuses as you like and try and pass the buck, but in the end, man is responsible for his actions - God instilled in all of us the knowing of right and wrong. We are not animals!
I find your drivel totally nauseating. Like I should go and blame my ancestors (who so happen to be Irish, Dutch and French) on all my shortcomings - a sure sign of a LOSER!!!
Try growing up and taking some RESPONSIBILITY FOR A CHANGE. People don't turn against you becuawe you're BLACK, but because of the things you say and do.
I fear that in years to come the biggest ANC lie will prove to be the one they told their own people.
ReplyDeleteThroughout the struggle they promised free housing, jobs for all, free education and utter freedom. So when 1994 came around the people who put them in power wanted the fruits of electing the ANC into power. And they wanted their promised share NOW.
The shock of actually having to work to get that matric certificate, the shock of freedom actually only meaning opportunity, the shock of having to pay for the new electricity connection, the shock of having to pay rent and the shock of having to live amongst rampant criminals thanks to a corrupt and lazy police service has resulted in people taking a step back and saying... "what the...?"
Now, as in Zim, the government will shoulder NO responsibility for the fact that certain little things in life eg education and health care have almost collapsed since their taking over the systems. Instead, they will incite their still VERY un-educated supporters to take up arms, fight the counter-revolutionary forces, the shadowy unseen third force enemies etc etc. Read the whites. They will continue to blame the whites for their current dilemma without questioning the role played by a lot of power hungry, money grabbing and totally status obsessed leaders.
They will continue to demand that the system give more and more and more, until the tap runs dry. The over fed government will lull them into a false sense of things actually changing by changing a few street and town names, by insisting that the most loud mouthed of the group be employed in senior positions and by singing about machine guns and revolution. But nobody will actually get on with that pesky little issue of making the country work. Oh no, that takes FAR too much effort.
maybe someday ,some brave soul at the prosecuting authority will tell the world the truth about the "big man " and his involvement at the johannesburg airport robberies during his reign.
ReplyDeleteLiberalism has become the excuse of the immorral to do whatever they want
ad Brian`s post
ReplyDeletewe desperately need the uninvolved to comment on the situation in SA
Brian you seem to be indoctrinated by the anc already
"the king can do no wrong"
God help Africa
I'm glad Sarah lives in the UK. In SA now we need people to be balanced and fair minded. We have huge problems in this country as she points out, but having a racist like herself pointing out only what suits her bigoted mindset - well we need to move beyond that if we want to make this country work. We have huge crime issues here, but nothing happens in a vacuum. 14 years ago and before (and also since I imagine) education was a problem for the majority of the population. (I wont even comment on her view of black hospitals etc. That is complete ignorance or just plain bigotedness) She refers to being proudly South African in the apartheid era. I wasn't proud of our country then. How could we be. There was so much inequality. Besides we were the murder capital of the world in the white powered SA too. Why doesn't she look at Britain and comment on the complete mess they are making of the economy. Investment banks are folding and between the UK and the US we could go into a major world recession to rival the depression of the 1930's. Bush has divided the world into two camps which has put all westerners life in jeopardy. Politics is not easy. The ANC have not done a brilliant job but then neither has Brown or Bush. I'm not saying we don't have major issues in this country, because we do, but so do the two western superpowers. China is not without it's issues. We need positive people making positive non racial statements to help sort the mess out. The Whites in this country are lucky there wasn't a bloodbath backlash after the blacks were freed by the very atrocities mentioned by Sarah. If they hadn't fought us, they would still be suppressed and only a white could be so crass as to say they were better off with bad education, limited healthcare, restricted job opportunities, or other basic human rights. The degradation and inhumanity of passlaws, forced relocations & Vlakplaas to mention but a few. We are incredibly lucky that Mandela was the first post apartheid president. I know that the ANC committed atrocities in order to try and free their people from slavery to the whites. What was our excuse? We committed atrocities in order to try and keep the blacks suppressed. Who has the moral high ground in that? Not us. Mandela was tried in a court of law and found guilty for which he paid a huge price. He lost his freedom for almost all of his adult life. How many whites have been prosecuted for their crimes. Some said "sorry" at the truth and reconciliation commission in order to get amnesty as did some blacks I'm sure, but I don't think an insincere sorry is really enough.
ReplyDeleteAs you can hear, this is a bit of a hot issue with me. I will send you a link on SA the good news. Much more healthy... I'm just saying that there is no room left for bigots and racism. There was enough of that in the past (on both sides no doubt) and see where that got the country. Lets leave race out of this. If the majority of the blacks felt that it was easier in the good old white days they would vote us back in now that they have the vote. We live in a democracy here so the country get what the country vote for. It is each person's right to choose. There is corruption, but elections are still deemed to be fair. I love this country and wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world. I want to see it come right and know that the only way for that is for the people to vote for what is right and not what is based on a colour perception. Once we get beyond racism we can start voting for non corrupt government officials, be they in the white party or the ANC. We need the good guys of both colours to come together to stand for truth.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more! South Africa still has SO MUCH going for it!
Sarah, maid of Albion - i find it such a pity that your article was written from such a one sided point of view... i think you had a lot of really interesting and worthwhile things to say - but there is clearly undertone to so many of the things you have said that just left me dismayed.
First of all, in judging Mandela - nobody applauds what he might have done as a terrorist fightin against Apartheid. The reason so many people adore and love him is for the forgiveness and magnanimity with which he lead all of south africa through the post apartheid transition.
He would have had alot to be bitter about, and teh choice to hate white people and be polarised along racial lines was right in front of him, but instead he came out and showed nothing but love and a genuine desire to reconcile. How many African leaders can you count you have had all the power and then willingly stepped down as Mandela did after his first term?
Mandela's whole life since he has been released has been an incredible story of forgiveness and seeking what is best for his country... all the people of his country, black or white.
And then with regards to whether black south africans are better off now or under apartheid. you write about this so one sidedly, its just ridiculous.
you try to make it sound like the white masters gave them everything they needed, why didn't the black people just thank them and peacefully carry on being oppressed.
What is so ironic is that through your very graphic description of all the problems south africa now faces as a free nation - you completely fail to acknowledge that the vast majority of that was simply due to the terrible scars that the apartheid regime had inflicted upon us and our legacy.
Everything you just described about rape and murder and whatever was what black people were living under during apartheid... and it sounds like you imagine this all emerging as a result of somethng mandela did.
Everything you just descibed was the very reason that mandela was fighting agains the apartheid regime.
Take a step back, and see the world from a point of view other than a "white south africa" and you could never come to the same conclusions you have in this article.
We need more people like Ariel in South Africa. My comments on this blog about the mind of South Africans is important in building a united South Africa. We live in a multiracial country and this will never change. Sarah, I would urge you to focus on things that matter to you and not offer one sided opinions on a country we love so much. Mandela means a lot to us and yes, he was part of many atrocities during apartheid but his heart united a nation divided by racism and oppression. As the Ads say South Africa is alive with possibilities - the applies to every person who calls this country their home.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad there are people out there who are still passionate about the future of South Africa.
Thank you for speaking out Sarah.
ReplyDeleteMore on Mandela and the communist, terrorist ANC's past at:
http://dienuwesuidafrika.blogspot.com/2000/02/mandela-church-street-bombing.html
Brian .I think you really mean the labour fascist-communists currently in power in the UK who advocate cultural genocide for the British people by importing the 3rd world to enrich us - - currently calling the nationalist group - nazis- and suppressing them...just because we dont want a repeat of South Africa in our country which is the case currently happening...
ReplyDeleteYou're omitting one of the most important aspects of the situation, which, I'm afraid, is Jews.
ReplyDeleteIt's well-known that when the minerals of south Africa were being found and exploited, Jews such as Beit were in there. South Africa had Boer farmers, English police and army, and Jewish dealers in gold and diamonds; that's in outline what happened. Fifty years later, after World War 2, Jewish intersts wanted to keep these assets secure. With the experience they had in destroying Russia, they set about much the same method involving propaganda (for example Peter Hain in Britain), violence (through 'communists' such as Kasrils and Slovo and presumably ANC), and economic power (bribes, corruption). Peter Hain was described as being 'brought up as a Christian' which I take to be a coded phrase for being Jewish. To this day the controlled media never comment on the Oppenheimer control of gold mines. They don't care a sh*t for either whites or blacks. Note there's an internal US conflict - the FBI is less Jewish controlled than the CIA for example. Sometimes with the most consummate hypocrisy 'communists' say that e.g. blind Africans have river blindness, isn't that shocking -- ignoring the fact they have done damn all in all that time to help. Don't be naive about this.
Mandela is Proof of how easy it is to make the lazy ignorant white population of the world believe any fairytale the MEDIA wants them to believe
ReplyDeleteIf only people would investigate for themselves the world will be a better place .It is time for people to wake up and see what is happening the world over .
Ah yes, in the black corner, the terrorist Mandela...
ReplyDeleteAnd in the white corner, his opponent, the fair, wonderful, holier-than-thou, innocent, just, etc., etc., National Party of South Africa, represented by such Paragons of Virtue as PW Botha, John Vorster and Hendrik Verwoerd.
As a white, non-ANC supporting South African, I'm not sure whether this post should make me laugh or cry.
I guess it's irrelevant becauese "moderation has been enabled".
@ Anon 04:57
ReplyDeleteI guess you must have imagined that message made sense!!
With regard to the comparison between Mandela and Verwoerd you might find this posting interesting:

ReplyDeleteThose who don't like how things are done in Africa are free to join the ones who left to got to the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The ones who can't leave not because they love the country but simply because they can't afford the plane tickets have to suck it up. AA is here for the long haul, BEE is here for the long haul. You swines benefited from Apartheid, now Blacks have to reverse that on you and also try and undo your damage. We will play the apartheid card until the cows come back home. Those who don't like it can pack and go. Mandela stopped the PAN AFRICAN CONGRESS from driving whites to the sea, this you can accuse him of. Be grateful that he is more forgiving than most of us. You can cry us a river about the injustice suffered by whites, it's retribution. Mandela turned the other cheek be happy for this, we wanted to kill you!!!! Viva Mandela.
ReplyDeleteThank you Zoe! After listening to The P.W. Botha's "rubicon" speech in the eighties and the chaos that has descended upon S.Africa in the nineties (1994) and readung your hate filled comments I can now see exactly why P.W. refused to succumb to the demands of the ANC and their ignorant world wide supporters. Mandela and his ANC were handed a thriving well oiled first world country and within a few years it has become a third world country and a disgrace to true democracy. I was never involved in politics before the final vote by the whites to vote for "democracy" and I have never ever used my vote since then. I was (and the rest of world) was duped into believing that the "democracy" that was frequently and profoundly promised by the ANC would bring about a fair and just society. That by uniting together in sincere trust, endeavour and righteous behaviour that S. Africa would set an example for the rest of darkest Africa to follow. The ANC "big wigs" their officials and their supporters have prooved themselves to be nothing more than DECEITFULL and GREEDY LIERS. You speak only for yourself and your vengeful narrow minded assumptions are all conjured within the ignorant ANC's political box. For there are millions of poor black people in S. Africa who have not received a single minute benefit from this incapable corrupt government at all. Those of the poor who do are few and far between. They are shown on TV as propaganda only for sake of glorifying the ANC. Mandela and the ANC use "the poor" as an example only for politcal purposes to gain and remain in power. Meanwhile back at the ranch the ANC politicians and their officials are daily shovelling the taxpayer's money into their bank accounts in millions. The poor have received ziltch for their vote. It would not surprise me if the total amount of taxpayers money stolen totalled in the hundreds of trillions. Yes your nagging revengeful desire to remove the whites from Africa is a true reality with the undercover genocide that is taking place now. Aftrer that you will of course turn to killing each other as has been the case in the rest of Africa. From then on you can follow in the same desructive footsteps as the rest of Africa has done. In a worldly battle to gain supreme control of the world the super powers are not concerned about the depleted, destabilized and ignorant blacks in Africa. They will only be a burden to their cause and are inevitably dispensable. When the whites are gone the economy will also be gone and the farms will be bare, useless and unyielding. That will be the time that you and your kind will learn that your hungry stomachs need bread and not money. That will be the time to remember the the days before and during the white genocide and don't forget to put your extinction jackets on. Good luck ... For what ye sow, so shall ye reap. My wise intelligent friend in the bible said that.
ReplyDeleteZoe old chap it appears that killing comes easy for the blacks in Africa not only in the killing of white people in their countries but of the killing of blacks as well upon the whole continent. Congratulations to the blacks in Africa for their great and wonderful acheivement. No other nationality upon this earth so far has managed to kill so many of it's own people and the destiny of it's own continent in such a short space of time. It has taken less than a century to accomplish this extraordinary feat and the killing of the people just keeps going on and on. Such fantastic enthusiasm to kill and keep on killing is quite amazing. How do the black people manage to sustain and mantain such a relentless and dedicated perseverance to killing so much in so short a space of time? Is it something that perhaps runs in the genes or is it perhaps motivated by something that they eat or drink. I would certainly like to know sometime but there are definitely signs of a relentless total destruction going on in Africa and withot trying to be too nosey it would be good to know the reason for it. Seeing that you are such an expert on the behavior patterns of the African blacks I decided to ask you and not my koi- san friend whose ancestors lived in harmony with the land in Southern Africa for twenty thousand years before the Nguni trekked south and elbowed them off into the Kalahari desert. I have actually spoken to him about it before but all he does is cradle his old head in both hands, shake it around violently and then run off at great speed. At the same time he lets out an agonizing cry that sends a cold chill down my spine so I guess I will never get any answers from him. Earlier on when I told him about your wonderful Mandela fella he pulled the same trick on me. Well its time to go ... Cherio and viva Mandela and all the crap that goes with it ... I'm off to live with my friend in the desert. Face the hot sun and sand and perhaps ride an ostrich or two. Going to enjoy a bit of true peace and freedom before the blacks of Zoe's clan come to kill me.
ReplyDeleteYes and the majority of the tax money paid in to the ANC government is paid in by the whites. Zuma had a lot of good and wonderful advice to give the country on "human rights day" but any good words that come out of the mouth of an ANC parliamentarian's mouth is nothing more than a cover up for their own deceit, faults and short comings. It can be taken with a pinch of salt. After all said and done the evil, corrupt and abusive things that he was telling everyone in the country not to do was just used as a political blind for the sake of satisfying the ANC's gullible supporters in and around the world. Its a pity that he and his predecessors don't practice and abide by the laws that they preach. Zuma and his ANC government are the last person/persons on earth that can turn around and tell honest clean living citizens to clean up their act. What a joke to hear him declaring the importance of human rights after ieading his ANC government in the singing of the song "kill the whites" at their centenary celebrations. Mandela was made a legend by the powers that be and he left an ANC legacy but of what it was then and is now are two different things for sure. I see that due to racial conflict erupting between blacks and colourds in the Eastern Cape on "human rights day" the media has renamed it "human riots day". Is this the legend and the legacy that Mandela can lay claim to or was he just a pawn in the ANC's filthy political power game?

ReplyDeleteAfter reading your comment and having liived in S. Africa since 1944 (for 68yrs) I can assure you that I can believe you when you said that you stumbled upon this website. However the shallow depth of your vision and/perception will be a further "stumbling block" to you in the future especially when it comes to the subject of speaking the truth about the so-called new S. African political situation. Stumbling on would be a good song to replace the new S. African Anthem. You will definitely have to do something about your stumbling and hopefully this government will do something about their stumbling as well.
